National Heritage Charter

Our national heritage, deeply rooted in Korea’s nature and culture, comprises a precious reservoir of assets reflecting our identity, creativity, and beauty.

Through the collective experience of appreciating and conserving our national heritage, we develop the capacity to enrich our lives.

We declare our commitment to creatively carrying forward this nation’s heritage for future generations and thereby we pledge the following:

• - We shall safeguard both the tangible and intangible values of our national heritage and protect its environment.
• - We shall recognize that every individual bears the right to experience our national heritage in everyday life, as well as the shared responsibility to provide care.
• - We shall continue to develop the potential of our national heritage through joint efforts with the art, education, science, technology, and tourism sectors.
• - We shall enhance the sustainability of our national heritage by rapidly responding to changes in society and nature, and by prioritizing efforts in the invigoration of local communities.
• - We shall cooperate with the international community in sharing the universal significance of our national heritage and in seeking mutual respect among the many cultures and traditions across the globe.
• We shall faithfully implement the above as we seek a harmonious coexistence with our national heritage to usher in a brighter future for all.
