CollAsia is a training program that has been operating since 2013 with support from the Korea Heritage Service’s trust fund. Since 2014, NRICH has been sending internal experts in cultural heritage conservation as instructors. In 2023, NRICH and ICCROM signed an MOU aimed at enhancing collaboration in the joint planning and operation of the program.

The CollAsia 2024 will involve 19 cultural heritage conservation professionals from the Asia-Pacific region, including Bhutan, Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and others. The event will feature a variety of formats, including lectures, workshops, discussions, conferences, and field trips. The instructors from NRICH, who are experts in various fields such as exhibition utilization, conservation science, architectural heritage, and intangible cultural heritage, will deliver lectures on topics such as “Conservation and management of museum collections,” “Management techniques for museum spaces,” and “Risk management for cultural heritage using advanced technologies,” with a focus on Korean case studies.

NRICH will continue to collaborate with ICCROM to strengthen cultural heritage conservation capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region while also proactively promoting our outstanding cultural heritage conservation and utilization technologies.
